WORKSHOPS

Intermediate Songwriting Workshop: An Exploration of Different Paths to Writing Your Song

Facilitators: Louise Mosrie Coombe and Peter J Newland.
Prerequites: Some experience writing a song

Louise grew up outside of Nashville, TN and started her songwriting career by writing songs about the South – what she knew best. Starting in 2008 she won top awards at Kerrville Folk Festival, Wildflower! Festival, Telluride Bluegrass Festival and Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. Louise is now based in Williamsburg, MA.

Peter J. Newland is a Founding member and singer/songwriter for the Springfield-based rock band FAT, as well as an accomplished artist on his own. His band FAT had a nationally released album in the early 1970s and toured nationally as the opening act for the Allman Brothers. As the lead songwriter for FAT, Peter wrote songs for two more locally produced albums. He spent time in Nashville, and during that time had some of his songs recorded by Country stars such as Hank Williams, Jr. and Alan Jackson.

Seasoned songwriting pros Louise and Peter will share with us their experience and perspectives on writing songs.
